New Oxfam report says inequality kills

On the occasion of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Oxfam releases its annual inequality report. The report "Inequality kills" states that we are in an inequality crisis that is claiming 21,000 lives every day - one person dies every four seconds.

The inequality crisis is tearing our societies apart and threatening both human lives and the planet. Extreme inequality manifests itself in the form of hunger, lack of access to healthcare and vaccines, vulnerability to extreme weather caused by the climate crisis and gender-based violence.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, another 160 million people are now living in poverty.
