General conditions for the processing of personal data
Oxfam protects your privacy and your right to control your personal data.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply as law in all EU Member States from 25 May 2018. One of its aims is to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, in particular your right to the protection of personal data.
General conditions for the processing of personal data
In order to provide you with up-to-date information about our work, we keep the information you provide, such as your name, address, telephone number and social security number. Oxfam in Sweden protects your privacy and will never sell your personal data to a third party. However, we may use your personal data in cooperation with one of our partners in order to communicate with you. This may be, for example, to a printing company in order to send you postal information about our projects, or to a telemarketing agency in order to call you to tell you about Oxfam's work in the world and how your donation makes a difference, and to ask for further support. Of course, our suppliers have signed contracts that bind them to comply with our data processing rules.
We want to keep your personal identity number to avoid duplicate mailings or phone calls from us, which would be annoying and harmful to the environment. It's also a way for us to keep our administrative costs down so that as much of your contribution as possible can go to our work against poverty around the world. For this reason, we try to identify everyone who supports us by updating our database against the population register (SPAR).
We keep your personal data for as long as you actively support us, and for 3 years after the end of support for marketing purposes and invoice data for a further 4 years (7 years in total) in accordance with the Accounting Act.
If you have participated in one of our competitions, we will delete the data you have provided after the winner has been selected. We will only collect the information necessary to complete the competition.
Profiling
To send you the information about our work that is most relevant to you, we use profiling. This means that we send you information based on which of our causes you have supported in the past, the channel through which you have chosen to do so, and how long you have supported our work. You can choose not to have your personal data profiled.
If you wish to decline profiling, please contact us at info@oxfam.se or
08-4118822.
By supporting us, you accept our general terms and conditions
If you make a donation to Oxfam in Sweden, choose to subscribe to our newsletters, sign a petition or otherwise support our work, it is understood that you give us permission to process your personal data and accept our general terms and conditions. You can contact us at any time to opt out of phone calls, SMS, email or postal mailings.
You are in control of your personal data
You can also choose to be removed/forgotten from our register at any time. We will then delete all your personal data stored with us. However, this means that we will not keep information about you that you do not wish to be contacted. This means that if we purchase cold addresses for mailings to solicit new donors, we may contact you again if you are on such a list. It may therefore be better to contact us and tell us that you do not wish to receive calls, letters, emails or texts from us. That way we can stop communicating with you forever, or until you tell us you want it again. You also have the right to request correction of your information if you believe it is inaccurate.
If you wish to stop calls, letters, emails or text messages from us, request correction of your data or be removed from our register, please contact us at info@oxfam.se or 08-411 88 22.
You can request a copy of any information we hold about you
You have the right to request a copy of any information we hold about you in our records. We only keep information that is necessary to administer your monthly subscription, as well as information that will prevent us from sending you duplicate mailings, or contacting you through a channel you do not wish to be contacted through.
If you would like to request an extract from the register, please contact us at info@oxfam.se or 08-411 88 22.
Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with the way we handle your personal data, you are welcome to contact us at info@oxfam.se or 08-4118822 so that we can improve. If you feel that we are not listening to you, you can contact the Swedish Data Protection Authority.
